When I was five years old, I stood weeping in a prayer line, at a home prayer meeting in Virginia. An African-American evangelist named Mary Smith anointed my hands with oil, as I asked God, “God, if you’ll teach me how to play the drums, I’ll only play for you”. Within a few months, I was playing for our church.
Remembering that moment as if it were yesterday, I have stayed true to my promise. At the age of thirteen, my family moved, and we needed a bass player, I asked God to teach me how, He did. And then again, at the age of sixteen, my family moved, and our church had no piano player. I asked God to teach me how, within a week, He did, and I’ve never stopped.
These songs are birthed out of experiences and moments with God. I hope that you enjoy them, and know that they are solely here to minister to Him, and help the body of Christ do the same.
For most these tracks, I am playing all of the instruments. I did not play the saxophone or acoustic guitar on these tracks, however.
Feel free to worship with them, teach them to your church, small group, ensemble or choir.
More tracks will be coming by January of 2010, as I have written many more.
Although I know that I am called to preach the gospel, worship has been and always will be my position within the Kingdom. I am worshipper at heart. I’ve come to worship Him.
